Hotel Flor’s Official Launch Into The Future

In September of 2023, we participated in the first Bridal Show hosted by, the then-called Floridan Palace Hotel, and we had gotten a glimpse of what the renovations for the newest addition to the Tapestry Collection of the Hilton Hotels would be. On April 17th, 2024, we experienced Hotel Flor in all its new, gorgeous, glory.

All renovations on the inside of this 1920s downtown Tampa jewel have been completed, giving the historical aspects of the architecture a modern refresh while maintaining its essence. When we pulled up to the valet parking, we were greeted by a vintage car photo booth, an homage to the period when the magic began. Ushers in top hats opened the doors to your first stop, the magnificent lobby with its mail slots from when the hotel also served as a post office. After being greeted by ladies in Roaring 20s attires and acquiring a passport for your travel, you head over to your first destination, the Veuve Clicquot spot for a glass of their champagne. Follow the music in the Crystal Ballroom and get transported.

In the Crystal Ballroom, we got our first taste of Chef Dernier’s inspired Gulf Coast cuisine. The creamiest Devil eggs, bite-size beef wellingtons that melt in your mouth, a decadent charcuterie board, and more greeted us in this unforgettable room with its floor-to-ceiling windows and classic features. Two selections of cognac cocktails provided by Remy Martin and a live jazz singer completed the speakeasy experience in this historic room.

We picked up our passports and continued our journey to the very authentic Shoe Shine Station that has been a staple of the hotel since its beginnings. Negra espresso martinis, a Whispering Angel Cart Station, and a Cuban cigar were waiting. Pass the beautiful mahogany bar and follow the sounds of the live saxophone player and you’ll walk into the newly revamped Florida Ballroom. Several handcrafted cocktails, a seafood ice bar, decadent mini desserts, cotton candy made on-site, live music, and stilt walkers are all there to fill your senses. This experience allowed the guests to have an idea of the multiple capabilities of the space.

The journey came to an end in Room 1901 and 1908, giving guests a peak at what the newly renovated rooms look like, which we are very happy to report, are exactly what you would need for the perfect relaxing weekend. An Elleven Vodka Pop Up Bar or a Brugal 1888 Rum Pop up
