What is Café-Core and why do we have our eye on it as the Fall 2024 Wedding Trend?

Café-core is what happens when coffee lovers and wedding planners have a meeting of the minds and create a coffee-aesthetic-inspired event. That feel of warmth, the local coffee shop, the rich tones, and the cozy sense of being are interwoven throughout every element of the wedding, all inspired by the intimate feels of your local coffee shop.

The color palette is a variation of brown and cream tones with maybe one or two blues, greens, or peach colors as accent tones. You’ll see the use of dark brown suits for the groom and groomsmen, mocha-inspired dresses for the bridesmaids, and the use of rich textures like velvet and satin to bring in that feel of coffee-richness. You might also see the use of knitted table runners, giving that cozy sweater vibe.

If you guessed a specialty coffee-inspired signature drink, you were right whether you want a classic like the Espresso Martini or Irish Coffee, or something more fun like a Mudslide or a Coffee Negroni. Or, if you really want to stay on the purist side of Café-core, talk to your local barista and see what coffee drinks they prepare would make good signature drinks for your wedding! We bet the iced chocolate lava latte from Leads Coffeehouse would make a great signature drink, just ask Zeke, their barista and mixologist!

For an inspired coffee food menu, that is both delicious and on theme, a coffee braised roast beef or a roasted chicken with a coffee honey rub would be just the ticket. If you are choosing an entrée that has coffee already in it, don’t go overboard with sides that also have coffee. The perfect balance lies in the subtle taste of the coffee. For desserts, go to town! Anything chocolate, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon flavored would be a hit, especially if you serve lattes or cortaditos after dinner.  A coffee cake-inspired wedding cake would tie your café-core theme beautifully.

Want your guests to take a little something home? Partner up with your local coffee shop and gift bags of coffee beans for them to brew at home. Have the place cards be drink punch cards for the coffee shop. Have coffee cup sleeves with your monograms for the wedding day so that guests have a cute reminder when they go to get coffee.

There are so many special ways to incorporate café-core into your big day! And to get you started, we partner with Leads Coffeehouse to give you some more ideas for your big day! Kathia Guzman from Leads Coffeehouse put together this inspirational board to get you started.
