The New “Flor” of Downtown Tampa

This past Sunday our company had the wonderful opportunity to be part of the first ever Bridal Show hosted by the Floridan Palace Hotel, soon to be Hotel Flor, part of the Tapestry Collection of the Hilton Hotels. This national landmark has been around since the late 1920s and brings an elegant touch of history to any wedding. Its rooms were walked by such characters as Gary Cooper, Elvis Presley, and its famous Sapphire Lounge was visited by Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra.

As the only remaining skyscraper in Tampa built between the 1910s and 1930s, the architecture of the building provides a gorgeous background, with its large, red signage on the rooftop. A definite must take picture for brides and grooms. The spacious Floridan ballroom, newly renovated, with its high ceilings and over 10,000 sq feet of space allows for an elegant plated dinner and reception, while the Crystal Dining Room with its large windows and vintage ceiling in a beautiful whitewash provides a dream-like setting for the ceremony.

Right outside the Floridan ballroom, a large bar hugs the wall, with seating areas for your guests to enjoy cocktail hour. Details of the original hotel still run through the hotel, allowing your photos to have that 1920s glimpse of Tampa, like the Chutler mail chute, located in the lobby.

During the bridal show, guests and vendors were able to try out pass hors d’oeuvres from the amazing new restaurant of the Hotel, The Dan. Fan favorites were the heirloom tomatoes with burrata and crab cakes. Guests also received a complimentary glass of champagne. We highly recommend hitting The Dan and ordering the steak or the snapper and trying out their signature champagne cocktail, it is definitely worth the hype!

With the transition to the Tapestry Collection, the beloved Floridan Palace Hotel will retain the elegance and historic elements it brings to downtown Tampa and yet provide today’s brides and grooms with the modern amenities wedding venues today are known for. The staff at Hotel Flor is welcoming, helpful, and really take pride in what they represent. In the heart of downtown, a rare flower in full bloom, it is one of our favorite venues.
